Softball Game Preview: Assumption Royals vs. Hilbert Wolves

Assumption has won seven straight games at home, while Hilbert has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Royals will host the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Neither Assumption nor Hilbert posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

While Assumption's victory against Athens wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Royals skirted past the Bluejays 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Royals have posted since April 14, 2025.

Ari Cavanaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Assumption saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiley Carroll, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Hilbert came up short against Wild Rose on Thursday and fell 7-2.

Hilbert's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Assumption, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
