Soccer Game Preview: Wakeland vs. Turner

The Wakeland Wolverines will square off against the Turner Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakeland is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Wakeland beat Lone Star 3-1. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Rangers are ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Lions on Friday. Turner won by a goal and slipped past Reedy 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Turner was the better team in the second half.

Wakeland pushed their record up to 11-0-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four matches. As for Turner, their win bumped their record up to 5-3-3.

Wakeland came out on top in a nail-biter against Turner in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will Wakeland repeat their success, or does Turner have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
