Westwood put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Lakewood Gators by a score of 48-40. Given the Redhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Gators are ranked 102nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Larry Brown Iii, who posted 13 points. The dominant performance also gave Brown Iii a new career-high in rebounds (four). Aj Veal was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points and six rebounds.

Westwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood only posted five assists.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Darius Franklin, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cedric Cisse, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Westwood's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Lakewood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Westwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-42 win against Richland Northeast on the 13th. As for Lakewood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 42-37 victory against Dreher on the 13th.
