Boone Grove is 9-1 against Hebron since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolves will square off against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Boone Grove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Wheeler 8-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.
The team relied heavily on Max Truby, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hebron). Their pitchers stepped up to hand 21st Century Charter a 20-0 shutout on Saturday. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Carter Riley made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Riley was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Brenden Brooks looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Zac Peeler was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. Hebron is undefeated when Peeler posts two or more runs, but 9-10-1 otherwise. Cole Trosien was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Hebron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Hebron's win bumped their record up to 16-10-1. As for Boone Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Boone Grove has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hebron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Boone Grove's way against Hebron in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Boone Grove made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
