Liberty made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Nicholas County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Liberty was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Nicholas County on Monday. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Maddie Cox spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Katie Mullens and Allie Bowles did most of the damage at the plate: Mullens scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Bowles scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Bowles has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Scarbro, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nicholas County only posted a batting average of .231.

The victory made it two in a row for Liberty and bumps their season record up to 2-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Nicholas County, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-13 victory against Wyoming East on the 25th. As for Nicholas County, they have also already played their next game, a 17-0 win against Braxton County on the 26th.
