Basketball Recap: Hilliard Davidson Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Sophie Onderak and Averi Hays

It was a proper cat-fight when Hilliard Davidson took on Hilliard Darby on Tuesday. The Hilliard Davidson Wildcats lost 48-23 to the Hilliard Darby Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while the Panthers are ranked 76th).

Averi Hays and Sophie Onderak certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hays posted seven points, while Onderak had four points. That's the most points Hays has posted since back in November of 2023.

This is the second loss in a row for Hilliard Davidson and nudges their season record down to 2-12. As for Hilliard Darby, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilliard Davidson will head out to challenge Upper Arlington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Upper Arlington will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Hilliard Davidson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hilliard Darby, they will venture away from home to square off against Marysville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Marysville: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Hilliard Darby has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
