Basketball Recap: Nanwalek Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ninilchik

Nanwalek scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 87-64 to the Ninilchik Wolverines. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), Nanwalek still had to take the loss.

Kade McCorison was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 46 points and ten rebounds for Ninilchik. McCorison's morning made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Russell, who went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Nanwalek is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. As for Ninilchik, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nanwalek has already played their next game (against Birchwood Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Ninilchik will take on Homer in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in Ninilchik's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
