Preview: Gunter Tigers vs. Slidell Greyhounds
The Gunter Tigers will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Slidell Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Gunter strolled past Collinsville with points to spare, taking the game 51-37. Given Gunter's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Collinsville is ranked 1253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Slidell took their matchup on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 67-27 win over Yavneh Academy. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-9.
Gunter has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Slidell, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
Everything went Gunter's way against Slidell when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Gunter made off with a 87-66 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gunter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
