Softball Game Preview: Comer Tigers vs. Childersburg Tigers

Comer is 0-10 against Childersburg since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. Comer will take on Childersburg at 5:30 p.m.

Comer is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They lost 10-2 to Thorsby.

Comer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Tyler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was Tyler's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Childersburg came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rebels, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 10th.

Madison Brooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Kelsie Kelley was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

The win got Childersburg back to even at 14-14. As for Comer, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Comer hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Childersburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Comer suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Childersburg when the teams last played last Thursday. Can Comer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
