Basketball Recap: Raymore-Peculiar's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Raymore-Peculiar entered their tilt with Belton on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 62-55 win over the Belton Pirates. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Pirates are ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, Belton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jayce Maiden went 10 for 17 en route to 22 points and seven boards. Those 22 points gave Maiden a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaven Blaise, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.

Raymore-Peculiar's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Belton, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Raymore-Peculiar has already played their next contest (against KIPP Legacy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Belton will square off against Chrisman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belton is facing Chrisman at the right time seeing as Chrisman is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
