Softball Recap: Whitko Wildcats vs. Southwood Knights

Whitko lost against Southwood back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Whitko Wildcats took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southwood Knights.

Kaylee Adkins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.

On Southwood's side, Natalie Sutphin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Sutphin has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Sutphin was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izzy Ashba, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and a triple.

Whitko's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Southwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
