The Jennings Bulldogs will square off against the Lake Arthur Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jennings is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Jennings gave up the first runs last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Merryville 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jenna Morvant was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Venable, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Kylie Price was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Jennings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Lake Arthur earned a 6-2 win over Hackberry on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Jalea Prudhomme was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Kynli Newsom, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Jennings' win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Lake Arthur, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jennings hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Lake Arthur struggles in that department as they've averaged .395. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jennings took their win against Lake Arthur in their previous meeting on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-0. Will Jennings repeat their success, or does Lake Arthur have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
