Baseball Game Preview: Sam Rayburn Rebels vs. Tioga Bulldogs

The Sam Rayburn Rebels will head out on the road to take on the Tioga Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sam Rayburn is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

If Sam Rayburn beats Tioga with nine runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Everything went Sam Rayburn's way against Dodd City on Friday as Sam Rayburn made off with a 9-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Rebels have posted against the Hornets since April 20, 2018.

Cash Mason was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Mason was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Cooper Robison was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Cade Nichols was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Tioga didn't have quite enough to beat Whitewright on Tuesday and fell 8-7. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Austin Norwood was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Tioga's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-4-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Gage Anderson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Sam Rayburn's record now sits at 6-1-1. As for Tioga, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-1.
