Basketball Game Preview: Deering Rams vs. Westbrook Blue Blazes

The Deering Rams will head out to take on the Westbrook Blue Blazes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, Deering came up short against Kennebunk and fell 45-36.

Meanwhile, Westbrook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 48-32 bruising from Gorham.

Deering will need focus on slowing down Hattie Clark, one of several Westbrook players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Clark a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Dunphe, who scored six points and ten boards.

Deering's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Westbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Deering ended up a good deal behind Westbrook when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 42-25. Can Deering avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
