 Mercer was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight  defeat. They took  a  15-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sharpsville Blue Devils. Even if Mercer couldn't come away with the  victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
  Drake McFeely made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.  Cole Fisher was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances.
 Even though they lost, Mercer was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .400. That's the best  batting average they've managed all season.
 On Sharpsville's side,  Caullin Summers made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he  tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. Summers was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring three  runs and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-5.
 In other batting news, Sharpsville got a  massive  performance out of  Gabe Titus, who  went 4-for-4 with a  home run, four  runs,  and four  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Josh Divens, who  went 2-for-4 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.
 Mercer's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Sharpsville, the  win was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
 Mercer will head out on the road to  face off against  Karns City at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Karns City is coming into the  match with three straight  victories at home,  so Mercer will have to stop a  squad with plenty of momentum. Sharpsville will take on Jamestown at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
