Baseball Recap: Glenbard South Beats Wheeling for Their Third Straight Victory

Glenbard South entered their tilt with Wheeling on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Wildcats. That's more bragging rights for the Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Owen Marshall looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Glenbard South: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Tommy Burke was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gavin Pogorzelski, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Glenbard South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Glenbard South back to even at 12-12. As for Wheeling, they dropped their record down to 9-13 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Coming up, Glenbard South will face off against Downers Grove North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Wheeling, they will challenge Rolling Meadows at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
