Baseball Recap: Lincoln-Way West's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Lincoln-Way West dropped their record down to 20-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lockport Porters. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Porters earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

Lincoln-Way West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Pettit, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

As for Lockport, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-9. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly four runs.

On Lockport's side, Anthony Farina tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Farina has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nick Moerman and Bryce Flood did most of the damage at the plate: Moerman went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Flood went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Flood has posted over his last ten matchups.

Coming up, Lincoln-Way West will take on Lincoln-Way Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lockport, they will face off against Lincoln-Way East at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Porters are facing the Griffins at the right time seeing as the Griffins are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
