Ocean Springs came tearing into Tuesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the St. Martin Yellow Jackets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Greyhounds have posted since March 1st.

Jack Jordan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Clower, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cannon Hensarling, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Ocean Springs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Ocean Springs' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for St. Martin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Ocean Springs will have a chance to go back-to-back against St. Martin: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
