Basketball Recap: Justice Martell- Artiaga's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fernley over Damonte Ranch + How To Watch

If Fernley was riding high fresh off their 50-25 takedown of South Tahoe on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vaqueros fell 37-32 to the Damonte Ranch Mustangs on Thursday. The matchup marked the Vaqueros' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Fernley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justice Martell- Artiaga, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 14 points and seven boards. Martell- Artiaga has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Tollestrup, who posted seven points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.

Damonte Ranch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mya Ghisletta, who put up nine points in addition to seven boards and three steals. A'Laya Washington was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Fernley's loss dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Damonte Ranch, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

Fernley has already played their next contest, a 41-37 victory against Galena on the 12th. Damonte Ranch will take on Spanish Springs in a holiday battle at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
