Merrill has gone 9-1 against Montabella recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Vandals will venture away from home to face off against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Merrill has five straight wins, Montabella has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Merrill will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Coleman, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Vandals came out on top against the Comets by a score of 13-8 on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Vandals' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Montabella couldn't beat Vestaburg on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Mustangs lost 20-5 to the Wolverines. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolverines 4-0 in the first period.

Montabella saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Pifer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Pifer has snagged this season.

Merrill now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Montabella, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Everything went Merrill's way against Montabella when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Merrill made off with a 17-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vandals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
