Baseball Game Preview: Puckett Wolves vs. Benton Academy Raiders

The Puckett Wolves will take on the Benton Academy Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Puckett's favor as the squad sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Benton Academy has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

On Friday, Puckett got the win against Pelahatchie by a conclusive 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won three matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Truitte Carter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Rankin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Sebren, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Puckett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pelahatchie only managed five hits.

Meanwhile, Benton Academy scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Yazoo County by a score of 6-5.

Benton Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Puckett, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
