Softball Game Preview: Novato Hornets vs. Redwood Giants

Novato is 0-10 against Redwood since April of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Hornets will head out to challenge the Giants at 4:30 p.m.

On Monday, Novato came up short against Marin Catholic and fell 10-5.

Georgiana Castro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Meanwhile, Redwood never let their opponents score on Monday. They came out on top against San Marin by a score of 1-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Giants have posted since March 24th.

San Marin's batters probably weren't too happy with Stella Belluomini, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up zero walks).

At the plate, Redwood's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gia Meyers, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Redwood has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Novato, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Novato might still be hurting after the 12-5 defeat they got from Redwood in their previous matchup on April 1st. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
