The Enka Jets will square off against the McDowell Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Enka turned things around against Brevard on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Blue Devils. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The team relied heavily on Ty Aycock, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Stewart, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, McDowell made easy work of Owen on Wednesday and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Titans have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hayden Shelton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Kyson Rinnert was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Keller Bradley, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
McDowell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got McDowell back to even at 6-6. As for Enka, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Enka came out on top in a nail-biter against McDowell in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will Enka repeat their success, or does McDowell has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
