Softball Recap: Fort Atkinson Blackhawks vs. Stoughton Vikings

Fort Atkinson extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-16 in the process. They came up short against the Stoughton Vikings, falling 9-0. The Blackhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Stoughton, their record now sits at 7-17. Surprisingly, this marked their fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

For Stoughton's part, not much got past Madelyn Barsness, who gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Fort Atkinson off the board. Barsness has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chloe Buell and Cara Link did most of the damage at the plate: Buell got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Link went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Link has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Matheny, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Fort Atkinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stoughton, they have already played their next match, a 5-2 loss against Jefferson on the 27th.
