1. Thornton Academy (Saco)
2014 record: 16-4, Class A runner-up
Head coach: John Provost

The Trojans couldn't pull it out in the Class A title game against Skowhegan, but expect Provost's squad to be ready for revenge this season. They lose All-State first baseman Erin Brayden, but return All-State senior Bailey Tremblay, who posted a 0.98 ERA while batting .417 last season.

2. Cape Elizabeth
2014 record: 18-1, Class B runner-up
Head coach: Joe Henrikson

The Capers suffered their only loss of the season at the worst possible time — in the Class B title game against Wells. Henrikson's 2015 roster will be led by a couple of returning All-State players: junior catcher Tess Haller (.440, five home runs, 26 RBIs) and senior shortshop Ashley Tinsman (.500, two home runs, 20 RBIs).

3. Skowhegan
2014 record: 16-4, Class A champion
Head coach: Lee Johnson

The Indians put up four runs in the first inning of last year's title win over Thornton Academy and never looked back, cruising to a 7-3 victory. Johnson, who earned Coach of the Year honors from the Press Herald, will have his team, led by a strong junior class, ready to play in 2015.

4. Scarborough
2014 record: 18-1
Head coach: Tom Griffin

Griffin and the Red Storm dropped a heartbreaker to Thornton Academy in the Western Class A title game, 2-1, for their only loss of the season. Griffin will have huge shoes to fill with the loss of Miss Maine Softball Alyssa Williamson, who now plays for Drexel, but expect the Red Storm to be in the thick of it come playoff time.

5. Madison
2014 record: 19-1, Class C champion
Head coach: Chris LeBlanc

The Bulldogs took down undefeated Calais, 1-0, to win last year's Class C title thanks to a heroic effort from All-State pitcher Emily McKenney. LeBlanc will have to make due without McKenney this season, but he brings back a roster full of young talent waiting to step up.
