Basketball Recap: Providence Falls Despite Big Games from Zamiyah Brooks and Emma Fuller

Providence was the 46-38 winner over Rocky River when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Providence Panthers lost to the Rocky River Ravens on the road by a 50-35 margin on Friday. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Providence had strong showings from Emma Fuller, who dropped a double-double with 11 boards and ten blocks, and ZaMiyah Brooks, who posted seven points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals. Brooks continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Rocky River found their leader in freshman Lundyn Spears, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten steals. The dominant performance gave Spears a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristin Jarrett, who put up nine points.

Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Rocky River, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence is facing Garinger at the right time seeing as Garinger is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Rocky River, they will be playing at home against Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
