Baseball Recap: Lovejoy Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Lovejoy entered their tilt with Anna on Wednesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Anna Coyotes a 14-0 shutout. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Logan Corley was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Reese Ogden was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Braden Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lovejoy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Lovejoy pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Anna, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Lovejoy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Anna: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
