Softball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

Columbia has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs, falling 13-6. The Roughnecks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2021.

Columbia has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. The victory was the seventh in a row for Lamar Consolidated, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbia will welcome Brazosport at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Brazosport's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lamar Consolidated, they will host Terry at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
