Basketball Game Preview: Capital Cougars vs. Timberline Blazers

Capital and Timberline are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Capital Cougars will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Timberline Blazers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

Capital is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against River Ridge on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Capital was beaten by River Ridge 69-34. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Hawks are ranked 62nd).

Capital's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mia Nielsen, who posted 21 points and eight steals, and Kail'Ah Allen, who put up five points and 12 rebounds. Allen has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last 13 times she's played.

Meanwhile, Timberline came up short against Peninsula on Wednesday and fell 48-38.

Capital's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Timberline, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Capital didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Timberline in their previous matchup on January 8th, but they still walked away with a 46-41 win. Will Capital repeat their success, or does Timberline have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
