Basketball Recap: Douglas County West Takes a Loss

Douglas County West suffered their biggest defeat since February 22, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 56-32 to the Wahoo Warriors. The Falcon were down 42-22 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Douglas County West still got an impressive performance from Trey Schieber, who posted 11 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wahoo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Simons, who scored 15 points along with eight steals and five assists. Those eight steals gave Simons a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Hesser, who earned 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

Douglas County West's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 21-4. As for Wahoo, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

Douglas County West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-44 win against Platteview on the 3rd. As for Wahoo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 75-53 victory against McCook on the 3rd.
