Dawson Cornett leads Medora to victory over Columbus Christian

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Medora Hornets proved on Saturday. They took down Columbus Christian 68-53. The win made it back-to-back wins for Medora.

Medora can attribute much of their success to Dawson Cornett, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cornett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Nugen, who scored 15 points along with five assists and three steals.

Loss or not, Columbus Christian got some senior leadership from Peyton Walden who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and Josh Conrad who scored 13 points along with two steals. Walden is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played. Branson Carr was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Medora's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Columbus Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Medora and Pleasant View Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pleasant View Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Columbus Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Seven Oaks Classical at 2:45 p.m. Seven Oaks Classical is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
