Basketball Game Preview: Holly Springs Golden Hawks vs. Apex Friendship Patriots

Holly Springs is 1-9 against Apex Friendship since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Holly Springs Golden Hawks will jump right back in to play the Apex Friendship Patriots at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Holly Springs is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Green Hope with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 78-59. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Golden Hawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Falcons are ranked 136th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holly Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kalaesia Lincoln, who went 7-for-10 en route to 18 points and four steals. Nylah Collins was another key player, going 8-for-13 to rack up 22 points.

Meanwhile, Apex Friendship had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 71-34 win over the Cougars. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.

Apex Friendship pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points over those games. As for Holly Springs, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-15.

Holly Springs ended up a good deal behind Apex Friendship in their previous matchup back in January, losing 65-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Apex Friendship's Jasmine Nivar, who almost dropped a double-double with 27 points and nine boards.
