Basketball Game Preview: Kearny Komets vs. Canyon Hills Rattlers

The Kearny Komets will head out on the road to square off against the Canyon Hills Rattlers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kearny has three straight wins, Canyon Hills has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Kearny will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Morse, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Kearny enjoyed a cozy 67-53 victory over Morse on Friday.

Meanwhile, Canyon Hills took a blow against Mira Mesa on Friday, falling 80-36. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 771st, while the Marauders are ranked 127th).

Kearny is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Canyon Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Kearny ended up a good deal behind Canyon Hills in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, losing 54-35. Can Kearny avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
