Steele dropped down to 22-9-1 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears by a score of 4-3. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Bears when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 33-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games.

For Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's part, Emma Escamilla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Escamilla has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Amerie Vega and Aubrey Garza did most of the damage at the plate: Vega went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Garza went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo beat Steele by a score of 12-6 later that day.
