Softball Recap: Westview Chargers vs. Brighton Cardinals
Westview came out on top against Brighton on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Chargers took their contest against the Cardinals 7-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.
Lakyn Rogers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Rogers was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Westview got a big performance out of Sarah Byars, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Byars a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Annelise Hayden, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Westview's record is now 9-5. As for Brighton, they dropped their record down to 14-9-2 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
Westview and Brighton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Chargers will take on Gibson County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (68 vs. 201). Meanwhile, Brighton (ranked 76th) will meet Raleigh-Egypt (ranked 237th) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
