Basketball Recap: Boylan Catholic Takes a Loss

Boylan Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 56-49 to the Freeport Pretzels. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pretzels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Freeport's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keagan Huggins, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. Huggins' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Paityn London, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Boylan Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Freeport, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

Boylan Catholic will head out to square off against Guilford at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Guilford is on a three-game streak of home wins, Boylan Catholic a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Freeport, they will face off against Rockford East at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
