Volleyball Recap: Fairmont Victorious

Fairmont hadn't done well against St. Pauls recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Golden Tornadoes came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1. This was payback for the Golden Tornadoes, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Fairmont had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-16.

Kimiyah Smith paced Fairmont's offense, picking up 14 kills. Smith got some help from Layla Hunt and her 14 assists. Hunt was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Fairmont's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for St. Pauls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Fairmont will challenge Pender at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Pauls, they will venture away from home to face off against Red Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
