Volleyball Recap: Greenwood Takes a Loss

After flying high against Decatur Central on Tuesday, Greenwood came back down to earth. The Woodmen came up short against the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Woodmen in their meetings with the Grizzly Cubs: they've now lost seven in a row.

While Greenwood ultimately came up short, they really made Franklin Community work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-12, 25-11.

Maddison Judge paced Greenwood's offense, picking up nine kills. Judge got some help from Adrianna Rosebrock and her 15 assists. Finally, Rebekah Linn kept Greenwood's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Franklin Community's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoe Tiemeyer, who had eight aces and three digs. Those eight aces gave Tiemeyer a new career-high. Nila Netter was another key player, getting 12 digs and one assist.

Greenwood's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Franklin Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Greenwood will host Southport at 7:00 p.m. on the 9th. As for Franklin Community, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Indian Creek on the 2nd.
