Baseball Recap: Meadowbrook Takes a Loss

Meadowbrook lost against Hopewell back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Monarchs came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 14-6. The Monarchs just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Nick Vaughan was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Meadowbrook: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Devon Harris, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meadowbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Hopewell, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Meadowbrook is taking a road trip to face off against John Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Monarchs are facing the Justices at the right time seeing as the Justices are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Hopewell, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Matoaca at 6:00 p.m.
