Basketball Recap: Forest Snags Tenth Win in Last 13 Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Forest took on Dunnellon on Wednesday. The Forest Wildcats came out on top against the Dunnellon Tigers by a score of 42-35. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Tigers are ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Forest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Janaina Wess, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Wess has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ja'Niyah McCoy, who scored ten points.

Forest is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Dunnellon, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Forest will square off against West Port at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dunnellon, they are taking a road trip to face off against Umatilla at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
