Baseball Recap: Mekeel Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Mekeel Christian Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-5 in the process. They lost 17-7 to the Canajoharie Cougars. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Lions' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Mekeel Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shane Nygaard, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that Nygaard has got this season.

As for Canajoharie, their record is now 4-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the game before.

On Canajoharie's side, Cameron Fox was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Aiden Bowerman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs.

Mekeel Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-0 loss against Galway on the 24th. As for Canajoharie, they will challenge Fonda-Fultonville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Valley Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
