Football Game Preview: Richmond Red Devils vs. Anderson Indians

The Richmond Red Devils will take on the Anderson Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Richmond has given up an average of 39.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Richmond took a 27-point defeat the last time they faced off against Marion, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Devils pulled ahead with a 35-34 photo finish over the Giants on Friday. The Red Devils' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Richmond's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jai Allen led the charge by rushing for 127 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also picking up 44 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 44 receiving yards gave Allen a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Thomas Stargell, who threw for 120 yards and three TDs.

Meanwhile, Anderson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Muncie Central 42-6. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Bearcats are ranked 98th).

Anderson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Richmond, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Richmond strolled past Anderson in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 53-38. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
