Basketball Game Preview: Berthoud Spartans vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

Berthoud hasn't had much luck against Roosevelt recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Berthoud Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Roosevelt Roughriders at 7:00 p.m. Berthoud is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.

Berthoud will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Thompson Valley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Berthoud came out on top against Thompson Valley by a score of 62-54 on Thursday.

Berthoud's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Callies led the charge by putting up 15 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Those eight assists gave Callies a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaac Erickson, who posted six points in addition to 11 boards and six steals.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 64-32 loss at the hands of Severance. The Roughriders haven't had much luck with the Silver Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Roosevelt's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Berthoud, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Berthoud was able to grind out a solid victory over Roosevelt when the teams last played back in January, winning 62-49. Does Berthoud have another victory up their sleeve, or will Roosevelt turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
