Basketball Recap: Rincon/University Comes Up Short

Rincon/University was the 65-54 winner over Marana when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rincon/University Rangers fell to the Marana Tigers 67-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (55), the Rangers still had to take the loss.

Rincon/University has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for Marana, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rincon/University will face off against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marana, they will square off against Tucson High Magnet School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marana knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 contests -- so hopefully Tucson High Magnet School likes a good challenge.
