Baseball Recap: Thunderbird Has No Trouble Against Agua Fria

Thunderbird won the last time they faced Agua Fria and things went their way on Monday too. Everything went the Thunderbird Titans' way against the Agua Fria Owls as the Thunderbird Titans made off with a 14-3 victory. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.

Evan Kolesar was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Thunderbird let Andrew Cohill and Matt Hornburg run wild. Cohill scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Hornburg went 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Cohill a new career-high. Alex Meza also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Thunderbird was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Agua Fria only posted a batting average of .368.

The win made it two in a row for Thunderbird and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Agua Fria, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thunderbird will welcome Cesar Chavez at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Agua Fria, they will be playing at home against Lake Havasu at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Agua Fria has given up an average of 13.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
