Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Williamstown's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Williamstown can now relate to. They took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Marys Blue Devils on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

St. Marys got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Addie Davis out in front who posted 13 points and five boards. Davis has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Laney Watkins was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 10 points.

Williamstown moved to 18-6 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. As for St. Marys, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4.
