Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Heritage Cougars vs. Rosman Tigers

Mountain Heritage is a perfect 7-0 against Rosman since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will welcome the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain Heritage has three straight wins, Rosman has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Mountain Heritage will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Draughn, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since March 21st.

The team relied heavily on Cason Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Mountain Heritage is 5-1 when Jones posts one or more home runs, but 3-9 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Rosman lost 21-3 to Polk County on Wednesday.

Rosman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli McCall, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kreed Smith also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Rosman's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Mountain Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Rosman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mountain Heritage hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. It's a different story for Rosman, though, as they've only averaged .208. Will they be able to contain Mountain Heritage's hitters?
