Soccer Game Preview: Caesar Rodney vs. Padua Academy

Caesar Rodney hasn't had much luck against Padua Academy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Riders will be playing at home against Padua Academy at 5:30 p.m. Padua Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Caesar Rodney, who comes in off a win.

Caesar Rodney barely beat Dover the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Riders' defense stepped up to hand the Senators a 3-0 shutout on Monday. Considering Caesar Rodney have won seven contests by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Padua Academy faced St. Mark's in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Padua Academy fell just short of St. Mark's by a score of 4-3. Padua Academy has struggled against St. Mark's recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Caesar Rodney is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 11-3-1 record this season. As for Padua Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6-1.

Caesar Rodney skirted past Padua Academy 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Riders repeat their success, or do Padua Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
