Baseball Recap: Erie-Prophetstown Find Success

Erie-Prophetstown took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Newman Central Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Comets on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 10th.

The team relied heavily on Parker Rangel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Steimle, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Erie-Prophetstown and bumps their season record up to 6-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Newman Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-5-1.
