Basketball Recap: Whitefield Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Ann Metcalf and Ellis Chung

Whitefield Academy has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 29.13 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They came up short against the Heritage Christian Eagles, falling 61-38. The game was a close 23-21 at the break, but unfortunately for the Lions it sure didn't stay that way.

Ellis Chung and Ann Metcalf certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Chung went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points, while Metcalf went 5 for 10 en route to 11 points. Those ten points gave Chung a new career-high.

Whitefield Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Heritage Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Whitefield Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 30-26 win against Blue Ridge Christian on the 24th. As for Heritage Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-22 defeat against Rural Vista [Hope/White City] on the 24th.
